Free Birds The free birds that I have designed are a tribute to my former living and working place, the artists’ freehaven on the former shipyard ADM in Amsterdam. To which I think back melancholically. For political reasons we are forced to leave this place. For me these birds represent everything this place stands for. A place with independently-minded people, a breeding ground for new creations. With cross-pollination between many skills, talents and unconventional thinkers. Maybe the birds are secretly a silent protest, against the council preferring big money over our creativity. These birds are unique just like the ‘ADM’. The birds stand for the free spirits and the safety and embrace that protects you as an individual within the group.
