Vicky van der Plas (1968), who lives in Vught, is a true Brabant maker whose work mainly revolves around the (in)ability of people to connect essentially with each other and with themselves. In her search for the right medium to express her ideas in this regard, she came across glass about 15 years ago. She now uses this in all its manifestations in her abstract still lifes, which she likes to enhance with materials from her personal archive. During Glas Leeft, Vicky will show her latest project in the Church of Leerdam, which is entitled 'See Me'. With this project she opens the door to her inner world: “What someone says, does or fails to do shapes and colors daily existence. In my own formal language I show how I deal with sadness, doubts and inability, but also with happiness and my femininity.” Vicky shows a series of abstract hearts blown into a mold she designed herself, which she subsequently processed with glass techniques and mixed media for the correct image.
Vicky started at IKA Glass Mechelen (Belgium) in September 2019 and graduated june 2024. The main technique she graduated in is glassblowing.
