Artwork description: The topic of the bachelor thesis is number 12. This number is a stable archetype that plays a role of order, completeness, closed circle, and integrity in the development of civilization. The realization consists of twelve objects made using mold melted technology. All twelve objects are connected by the shape of a cylinder, as a reference to the proportions of the human figure. The basic geometric shape of this body is a circle, which symbolically refers to the meaning of the number twelve, and the diameter of each object is 12 cm. The individual sculptures differ from each other either in the color of the glass or in its surface finish. The sculptures have a matte, glossy, or frosted surface. Others are modified by mechanical breaking, cutting, or are left completely raw from the melting process.
The group of twelve cylinders symbolizes the twelve apostles known to us from the New Testament. I reflect the uniqueness of each apostle in the processing of the cylinders, where each of the applied techniques is my own interpretation of one of the apostles, always working with the technique as a symbolic reference to the life or martyrdom of the saint.
I applied a universal language in the form of geometry to these objects, which can function together in any liturgical space. They show the way to a person who is just entering the temple and naturally show the way to the altar. They mark out the space in which the ceremony is performed, or symbolize the presence of the saint directly on the altar and play the role of a statue. They can be merely an aesthetic object that evokes different associations or induces a feeling of calm and presence.
