Artwork description: In her thesis the author researches the depiction of depression in art. Mental health issues are becoming more urgent now, at the time when the most important everyday matters include the aftermath of the pandemic and war in Ukraine. Poll results also indicate increasing incidence of depression in society. The aim of the thesis is to create an idea-based work of art. The thesis emphasizes minimalism, which technically manifests itself as minimal glass formation, monochromaticity and an engraved line. Because of its physical properties of being hard and protective as well as brittle and dangerous at the same time, glass as an amorphous material is endless and powerful in the metaphorical aspect. Just like the human psyche – both strong with the ability to withstand a wide amplitude of emotions and destructive.
