Transformations

Artwork description: My diploma thesis consists of a composition presenting three cocoons. All elements are based on a helix. They are created from melted fiberglass mat that has been left behind heat treated up to 960 °C. I wanted my work to show this incredible moment of transformation. A moment to leave an old shell that protected us and gave us a sense of security. This shell that once was unity with us, remains alone, no longer useful, but still holding our memories before the transformation. Under the influence of various events, we wrap ourselves in our own cocoon that it gives us shelter for some time and allows for peaceful development. Just like already pupated silkworm butterflies They dissolve their cocoon when they are ready to go outside, just as we sometimes get rid of ours a safe place to enter new ones. The biggest inspiration for me was the transformation we are undergoing subjected from the day they were born. Observing the transformation of my loved ones, the changes that took place in them and in myself were astonishing to me. In this work I wanted to share these observations that were incredibly inspiring to me and thanks to the medium of glass I had opportunity to express it.
