Artwork description: Kamila Dvořáková chose to explore one of the most demanding glass painting techniques. She adapted it in her own way, allowing her to build colorful, durable and sculpturally layered surfaces. The making of each vase required several days of work. Every single spike was carefully placed onto the glass and shaped by hand, turning the process itself into a dialogue between patience, precision and the unpredictable nature of the material. The resulting objects blur the line between utility and sculpture. What begins as an ordinary vase transforms into a tactile piece that calls for touch and invites closer inspection. The spiky surface carries both tension and energy, qualities that mirror the inner pressure many creators experience. For Kamila, this pressure became a theme: the constant demand to adapt, to endure, to keep up. Here she found a parallel with evolutionary principles, especially the idea that in order to stay in place, one must keep moving forward. Spiky thus captures more than form. It embodies persistence, the resilience of making, and the way external demands can leave their imprint on both the artist and the object.
