Artwork description: I present to you my graduation work entitled "Reunion". The artwork was created by a new technology for fusing glass beads I developed during two years of research at Tokyo University of the Arts. The concept is the "shape imprint". Translucent beads depict the silhouette of the original clay model, which disappeared during the creation process. In Japan, I realized that the concept of a work does not necessarily have to be defined before an artist embarks on the creation itself. A concept can also be formulated through dialogue with the material. This approach appealed to me so much that I tried it myself while creating my graduation work. The title is a metaphor for reuniting with oneself in a new environment far from home.
