The interplay of pink and blue hues, combined with organic themes and ubiquitous reflections, represents everyday perceptions that accompany the author both consciously and subconsciously. The work is built upon an intuitive foundation that, through the creative process, transforms into an intimate plane of symbols and signs. The resulting compositions represent a playful interaction into which the observer is drawn through their own reflection. Rather than presenting some concrete, clearly legible form, the intent is to evoke a subjective visual perception and emotional response. The practical part of the thesis documents the specific technique of selective mirror polishing with an illustrative motif and the application of nanocoating technology.
Artwork description long: This bachelor’s thesis represents the culmination of three elements that have permeated my work to date: a personal fascination with the color pink as a key visual mediator, an organic morphology engaged in an interplay with symmetry, and, last but not least, a dominant aesthetic and material element—the mirror. The main conceptual point of departure for my work is a visual narrative unfolding within semi-visible reflections and sightlines. This narrative thread is mediated by a series of polished objects distinguished by their vivid coloration and organic morphology. The goal of the thesis is to present a visually compelling technique while simultaneously initiating a dialogue between the artwork and the viewer. The work offers space for individual interpretation and the personal story of each observer—or “influencer.” In this role of observer and “influencer,” the viewer becomes an integral part of the piece. Through their reflection, they directly co-create the final whole, which was a crucial realization in working with the artwork. Furthermore, this status of “influencer” can also be attributed to the exhibition space itself; the work communicates differently in a raw industrial setting than in the sterile environment of a modern gallery. Although the motifs originated under the banner of abstract art, each individual may form a subjective aesthetic interpretation of the resulting drawings, illustrations, paintings, cuts, or polished surfaces. Viewers’ feedback on the work ranged from humanoid characteristics to nature-inspired themes. The series was complemented by a piece of double-sided mirror cut into the defined morphology, its lack of a frame disrupting the sequence of rectangular objects. The individual formats are intentionally installed one behind another to create various abstract nooks, multiplied reflections, and colorful sightlines. The glass elements feature a double-sided reflective effect owing to a nano-coating layer composed of metals, thereby offering a broader spectrum of colors. The blue mirror is silver on its reverse side, whereas the pink mirror features a reverse side with a copper undertone.
