Penetration · Release

Artwork description: Starting from personal self‑experience, this work visualizes the energy generated and breakthrough achieved by the self amid hardship and anxiety. Penetration refers not only to the inherent transparency and light‑transmitting property of glass, but also to the piercing action. Release stands for the discharge of energy accumulated within the self. I use glass to freeze the moment of penetration and release. By taking advantage of glass’s light‑transmitting quality to present forms in its inner space, the work reflects on the relationship between the self and the material world, expressing the discovery of inner potential and the realization of self‑breakthrough amid external constraints and social norms.

Artwork description long: Drawing on philosophical theory: In the process of the id releasing energy, it encounters resistance from the ego and superego. When its breakthrough is frustrated, the energy of the id transforms into the driving force behind the activities of the ego and superego. The ego enriches and realizes itself by overcoming the non‑ego. Originating from personal experience, this artwork visualizes the psychological process of accumulating inner energy and achieving self‑breakthrough amid hardship and anxiety, titled Penetration · Release. Penetration refers not only to the transparent and light‑transmitting physical property of glass, but also metaphorically describes the conical shape piercing the cube — an act symbolizing breaking free from constraints and inward exploration. Release embodies the discharge of long‑suppressed positive and negative emotions and inner energy. Using glass, I solidify this fleeting moment of penetration and release, freezing the dynamic instant of psychological breakthrough. Copper oxide powder is incorporated into the tip of the cone, fusing with molten glass to create unique color and texture layers. Leveraging glass’s transparency, forms are shaped within the inner space to present an inward‑extending spiritual dimension. This work explores the interactive relationship between the self and the material world, serving as an introspection of my current state. It expresses the discovery of inner potential and the achievement of self‑breakthrough amid external discipline and real‑world constraints.
