Artwork description long: Material Dialogue is an experimental art project exploring the conceptual and physical relationship between glass and porcelain, two materials deeply rooted in Czech craft and cultural tradition. The project began with a series of experiments testing their compatibility through direct contact, from glass fusing and slumping to hot-glass processes. After encountering numerous technical challenges and material limitations, the research shifted towards a more symbolic approach. The key point of connection became the ceramic glazing process and its reinterpretation in glass. This led to a series of hand-blown glass vases whose surfaces emerge from the interaction of hot glass and porcelain slip. By reversing the conventional logic of glazing, dipping hot glass into porcelain slip, the established material hierarchy is playfully inverted. Glass becomes the supporting body, while porcelain takes on the role of surface decoration. The project resulted in a new experimental glass-decoration technique, which I call “reverse glazing.” Material Dialogue proposes a meeting in which glass and porcelain remain distinct, yet together form a new material and visual whole.
