Artwork description: China is home to a vast visually impaired community, yet their presence is scarcely visible in the public sphere. This work draws upon interviews with blind professionals and students from schools for the visually impaired, exposing the widespread damage to urban tactile paving. By employing glass—whose transparency serves as a metaphor for societal neglect—the installation underscores the invisibility of this issue. Composed of both glass and concrete tactile paving, the work creates a striking material and visual contrast. Through this artistic intervention, it seeks to draw public attention to the mobility rights of the visually impaired, to advocate for the protection of tactile paving, and to contribute to the broader discourse on building inclusive, barrier-free environments.
