Home·sick·Home

Artwork description: This is a sand-cast glass work made with mixed media. Inspired by a family portrait, the piece encapsulates my family’s photo within the glass, symbolizing my emotions and memories of home and loved ones. A photograph is like a key that unlocks memory, fixing in place a fleeting moment of joy, sorrow, or laughter. In my mind, the images of memory appear as misted, softly glowing scenes. In this series, three images capture moments from decades ago; each time I look at them, it feels dreamlike, as if I were instantly transported back to that carefree time filled with beauty and warmth. Yet time, irreversibly flowing, does not pause for the preservation of an image. Precious memories remain only in the mind, lingering but untouchable. When recalling the past, I often smile to myself, but I also feel a quiet sorrow for the moments that can never return.
