Artwork description: One dot is singular but when they together it forms a line. I am creating these glass strokes, each made from single bangles fused together which becomes something more robust than just the single dot which is a single bangle in this case.
I have been working with industrial glass factories in India for the last 3-4 years. What I started noticing, specifically amongst the bangle maker was the same trappings of technique and approach as I had learned in the traditional style of glass making at college. Basically venetian techniques if you will. As I started spending more and more time with these bangle makers to source my own colored glass, I felt the desire to work with them and make a film and put some attention on their craftsmanship and hard work. These artisans live a humble life and have been working with glass out of these earthen furnaces for generations.
I began to feel the need to take this functional, or otherwise wearable piece of jewelry and pay tribute to the magnitude of the process of making them.
