Artwork description long: Physics has long provided the inspiration and framework for my creative practice. I am drawn to theoretical concepts which attempt to describe our fixed reality as emergent, issuing from a state where our rules of order do not apply. Rather than illustrating scientific ideas through the language of mathematics, my sculptures provide a material space in which to encourage abstract thought through light, form and perception. Echoes of Future Ghosts emerged from a fascination with the theory of Quantum Foam, which states that at the Planck scale, space and time dissolve into a restless field of virtual particles and fluctuating geometries. Beneath the apparent stability of our existence, order may arise from perpetual uncertainty. Each element is hot sculpted from optical glass, allowing light to become part of the work itself, subtly warping the geometric plane beneath. These subtle disruptions suggest that perception is never fixed and that even the most stable of systems contain the potential for disorder. If ghosts are the persistence of the past, then perhaps these forms imply another kind of haunting. They may represent traces of possible futures. Insubstantial architectures pressing quietly against the threshold of perception. Spectral filaments woven through higher dimensional space and superimposed upon our three dimensional reality. They linger like whispers from a future already inscribed within the fabric of the cosmos, haunting us as the echoes of future ghosts.
