Artwork description: In my project “Illusions” I focus on the place we long for. Since ancient times, people packed up their possessions and went looking for a new place to live and prosper. Not only because of scarcity or war but also to escape the straitjacket of your own culture, to seek adventure. Where do you want to go, where is it better? Stories about foreign countries where life is good play a big role in that choice. These stories colour the image people get of the place they dream about, unfortunately it often turns out to be an illusion. But illusions and dreams are what you need: to change something, to give you a purpose or an emergency exit. And beyond that: what could be more wonderful than to be able to travel in your imagination, to be whoever you want to be? The world in this object symbolizes the dream world that can be filled in as big or small as you want.
