Artwork description: With my piece, I reflect on the idea of human emotions and how we often express ourselves in ways detached from our innermost feelings. It toys with the misunderstanding of other people's emotions, and with the fact that as we form stronger relationships and grow closer to people in our lives, we might see through their mask and distinguish between how they truly feel and what they portray on the outside. In my work, I aim to recreate this human behaviour by creating a glass casting of a face. However, as the observer moves closer to it, they can see the hidden face inside: the hollow form within the portrait. While the surface frowns in disgust, the hidden face is laughing and having the time of its life.
