Artwork description: My artwork titled "Destruction" explores the process of shaping objects through disruption and shattering of crystal tableware sets, symbolizing abundance and stability in the Soviet Union. In a symbolic act of breaking the crystal, I reflect on the possibility of destroying the legacy of the Soviet Union - cultural, economic, and, most importantly, mental. The subsequent reworking of the remaining fragments, their reassembly into the form of a Frankenstein-like creature, and the composition of a "new form" from the remnants allow me to create a narrative that speaks of the changes that have occurred and continue to progress in our social life. "Destruction" raises questions about the consequences of societal transformations and invites contemplation on the fragility and malleability of established systems and structures. It challenges the notion of stability and encourages the viewer to reflect on the evolving nature of our collective existence.
Physically, the project consists of a set of over 10 "reworked" crystal vases. Each vase undergoes deliberate deformation, which is then meticulously recreated into a new creature. This composition of the "new form" created from the old allows me to construct a narrative that speaks to the changes that have occurred and continue to shape our social life.
