Coordinates Series

Artwork description: The Coordinates series is a diptych of unique silver gelatin prints created by exposing negatives of the Albertan landscape through handblown glass plates that explores the fluidity of time in the act of remembrance. As the photographs pass through the optical glass there is a moment of distortion where two realities meet: the past and the present. The vertical and horizontal elements in the photographs become metaphors for the axis of time and space while the glass creates a fixed coordinate – a precious memory made on the prairies that I call home. These prints are a result of 6 years of research and into combining glassmaking with my analog photography practice. Due to the techniques used each piece is considered a monoprint.
