Artwork description long: Convergence explores what becomes possible when seemingly separate ways of thinking coexist. I trained as an architect, where computational design became more than a drawing tool—it became a way to think and discover form. I came to believe mathematics could be a creative language in its own right. Working with glass, I was drawn to bringing that language into a centuries-old material practice, curious what forms might emerge from their combination. Convergence begins with two independent geometries: a digitally lofted exterior transitioning between orthogonal and curved profiles, and an extruded interior void. As these geometries approach and withdraw from one another, the glass shifts dramatically in thickness. Thin areas become nearly transparent; thicker areas accumulate saturated color. The gradient is not applied, it emerges from the glass itself. I think of this as co-authorship: I give the glass a geometry, and it gives that geometry a material life I could not have authored alone. The work succeeds when each contributes something the other could not. Convergence is not compromise or the disappearance of difference. It is the discovery of moments when separate systems—mathematics and intuition, architecture and sculpture, computation and craft—reveal unexpected compatibility. Geometry becomes visible not as a diagram, but as an optical phenomenon unique to glass. The object is not simply a blend between two forms. It is the physical consequence of their convergence.
