Artwork description: Explanation of "Cocoon · Boundary" Creation
This creation takes the concept of "information cocoon" as its starting point and uses glass cocoons as the core medium for visual presentation. In terms of form design, the cocoons are designed in four forms: "initially formed", "forming", "fully formed", and "interlaced and overlapping". In terms of craftsmanship, the coiling technique in lampworking glass is used to weave the cocoon forms. Additionally, a glass installation art piece is presented by combining display screens and other comprehensive materials. Through physical presentation, the complex and abstract concept of the information cocoon is transformed into a perceivable art piece, provoking the audience's thoughts on the information cocoon and the paths to break through it.
Creation Thought Process
This creation is based on the phenomenon of "information cocoon". By analyzing the concept, homogeneity, and closed nature of the information cocoon, and exploring the material characteristics of glass art such as transparency, fragility, and reflectivity, the element of "cocoon" is extracted and presented. In form design, the cocoon forms are designed based on the formation process of a cocoon, namely "initially formed", "forming", "fully formed", and "interlaced and overlapping". In the craftsmanship, the coiling technique in lampworking glass is used. According to the characteristics of different cocoon forms, the coiling is carried out based on the relationship of density and layering, and the coiling changes accordingly until the shaping is completed. Finally, a glass art installation piece is presented by combining display screens and other comprehensive materials.
