《Crystal trap VI 》

Artwork description: The difference between Crystal Trap VI and the previous works in this series is that this time the 'trap' is set for the human being himself. In this work, I have set up a 'fishing' scenario, but it is not the 'fish' that is being caught, it is the 'human' that is the real prey. I hope to use this setting to show a common phenomenon in contemporary society - fishing for people - and to put the act of 'fishing for people' under public scrutiny, thus exploring the interaction between humans and nature, and the reflection that humans should have. The whole piece consists of a fishing rod, a clear glass fish hook, a bust mirror and a bait assembly. The fishing rod protrudes from the top of the bust mirror and drops down, while the clear glass fishhook dangles from the top with bait hanging from it and a nest of bait beneath it, creating a three-dimensional interactive scene. The centrepiece of the work is the rod, line and hook, beautifully yet dangerously shaped through the technique of lightwork glass, full of fine detail and seductive light and shadow effects. When on display, the viewer stands opposite the mirror and can see themselves in the mirror, creating an immersive experience - facing the bait as if they were facing a beautiful temptation. The realistic fishhook is meant to warn the viewer that the trap is real and dangerous, while the abstract fishbait is a metaphor for the variety and change of traps, which are not monolithic and figurative for humans, but can take various forms. Just as society is full of distractions and lures, scams on social media, frauds in business dealings, and traps in internet links ...... all seem to tell us that it is not necessarily other species or resources that are waiting to be caught, but also humans themselves. In the face of all these traps, how can we distinguish between the real and the fake?
