Yuanyang "Molly" Liu

China
Artist Bio Yuanyang “Molly” Liu is a glass artist currently undertaking Advanced Research Studies at the Toyama Institute of Glass Art in Toyama, Japan, following her completion of the Institute's Glass Certification Studies Program in 2025. She holds an MFA in Integrated Design from Tama Art University in Tokyo and a BFA in Visual Communication from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions across Japan, the Czech Republic, the UK, and the United States, including the “18th Joint Exhibition of Glass Education Institutions” at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, the “International GAS Member Exhibition 2026” at The World of Glass in the UK, and “Uncontained; from Mountain to Sea” at Gallery 1045 in Toyama, Japan. She has furthered her practice through workshops at Pilchuck Glass School, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and the Niijima Glass Art Center, and her work has been featured in the Corning Museum of Glass's “New Glass Review”. Although glass is her primary medium, Molly's interest extends beyond it — she is drawn to phenomena that exist in ambiguous states, forms, gestures, and structures that occupy thresholds between categories. --- Education Toyama Institute of Glass Art— Advanced Research Studies Program Toyama, Japan | 2025–Present Toyama Institute of Glass Art — Glass Certification Studies Program Toyama, Japan | 2023–2025 Tama Art University — MFA, Integrated Design Tokyo, Japan | 2018–2020 School of the Art Institute of Chicago — BFA, Visual Communication Chicago, USA | 2012–2016 ---
