Gaby Berger
Belgian
Born in Brussels. In 2009 I started at the academy of Glass Arts IKA in Mechelen (B). The combination of glass and ceramics turned out to be an attractive opportunity to create unique works of art. Currently I focus on the technique of glassblowing. Depending on the mood of the moment it leads to vases, hand bags, sculptures or chandeliers. For my graduation in 2015 I made an installation “A handbag for every occasion” and presented it as a few cabinets filled with colourful handbags. Because I love making handbags so much and I still have a lot of inspiration, new handbags are still being produced. Here for I use different techniques: slumping, kiln casting, pate de verre, pouring and blowing. For my graduation of the specialisation degree in Glass art in 2018, I made an installation with the name “Searching Snow White’s Apple”. This project consists of a large table full of contaminated food represented in sandblasted glass objects and an oil barrel full of glass chicken legs.
