I'm Astitva Singh, a PhD student specialising in inter-media art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw (ASP). My strong desire to use art and self-activism to confront pressing social issues and advance human rights is what motivates me to pursue an artistic profession. With a background in a variety of artistic mediums, I work to highlight important issues from a variety of angles, encouraging creativity and partnerships between interested parties and civil society. My mother, a devoted social worker, inspired me to start my advocacy path at a young age. Her persistent efforts gave me insights into the difficulties marginalised people, especially children, confront. These encounters stoked my enthusiasm for the potent tool that art can be in bringing about positive change. I promoted film and photographic advocacy while collaborating with Kailash Satyarthi, the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. These platforms demonstrated how assertive these tools are in bringing important concerns to light and promoting action. Using these lobbying techniques, I was able to play a major role in the passing of the Anti-Human Trafficking Bill in the Indian Parliament. My work primarily focuses on public policy and community development, with an emphasis on partnerships, equality, citizenship, and governance. My experiences have taught me the value of changing policies and the crucial role that governments and other important players play in fostering inclusive growth. My desire to address the underlying causes of problems that impact millions of people in vulnerable situations motivates my commitment to using art to advocate for policies. My main tool for drawing attention to the difficulties encountered by the homeless, trafficked individuals, and street children has been art. I want to raise awareness of their predicament and fight for their education and basic necessities by documenting their lives and hardships. My artwork is to portray their living situations, psychological moods, and conditions in order to provide viewers a complete picture of their life and the necessity of action. I think that art has the transforming ability to affect society. My goal is to develop powerful stories that move people to action by fusing many kinds of media and components. In order to identify the underlying reasons of the ignorance and neglect that marginalised children experience, my technique entails performing extensive research and conducting experiments. I believe that art expresses and elevates human ideals in a way that goes beyond aesthetics. My study focuses on how interconnected humans are and how we all have a responsibility to support one another when they are going through hardship. My goal is to use art to bring attention to the pressing problems facing street children around the world, hopefully resulting in better lives and significant legislative changes. My ultimate objective is to inspire people to take an active role in promoting human rights and bringing about constructive change. I envision a society in which decision-making is guided by a commitment to human rights and personal integrity, enabling people to carefully and compassionately mould their own futures.
