I have worked in the field of studio glass since 1999, following my initial training in Architectural ModelMaking. Upon graduating from college, I was fortunate to join Peter Layton at London Glassblowing, a studio with which I continue to maintain a close professional relationship. While I relished the challenge of mastering hot glass, it was the discipline of cold working that immediately captured my imagination and ultimately shaped my career. Over the past two decades, I have developed a particular expertise in cold-working processes, specialising in optical epoxies and advanced lamination techniques. This dedication was recognised in 2005 when I was honoured with the prestigious Glass Sellers' Main Award, becoming the youngest recipient of the award at that time. Alongside my studio practice, education has been a defining part of my career. For almost 25 years I have worked as a teaching assistant, course leader, technical instructor, and lecturer, supporting students across conceptual, theoretical, and technical aspects of both hot and cold glass. One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been seeing many of my former students establish themselves as accomplished artists, designers, and makers in their own right. In 2019, I joined the Royal College of Art as a Glass Technician, a role I held until 2023. Returning to the RCA in 2024 as a Master's student marked a significant new chapter in my practice. I was deeply honoured to be awarded the Märit Rausing Scholarship for Ceramics & Glass, which gave me the opportunity to immerse myself fully in research, experimentation, and critical enquiry—something I had greatly missed. The work I have chosen to submit for the Libenský Award represents the culmination of my Master’s research and embodies the knowledge, technical expertise, and artistic direction I have developed throughout more than twenty-five years of working with glass.
