Born: 1963 in Zwartsluis.
Graduated in 2015 from the IKA Glass Institute for Arts and Crafts in Mechelen, Belgium from 2010-2015.
Studied Theater Design at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht.1989-1993 "I try in with my glass work and the series "Zeeuws Licht" to explain how it feels when you stand by the water, the Oosterschelde. That you see the big black basalt blocks coloring, the water mirroring, and the moments that change over and over again will never be the same. It shows itself. It waits for me....the intense colors, the primal forms of stone, the mud flats, sand, water, clay, the sounds, tides and colors. The experience of that moment I store in my reservoir. I have gained a broader understanding of madness because it is actually not possible to keep making new things that give an image of what I see or mean. I can only be in the moment. The series "Zeeuws Licht" comes ever closer to what I experience. It is no longer about beauty but about strength and surrender. I am inspired by nature and its landscape, its beauty and fragility. It's amazing how we always want to force the landscape into a design that suits us and the harvest of this existence.
Meanwhile, I experience this wondrous time as a time to recover for nature, including us.
My glass is a reflection of playing with control and surrender and finding the right balance.
